Qutab Minar

Danielle and I visited Qutab Minar on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

Qutab Minar (or Qutub Minar or simply Qutb Minar) is the second tallest (240 feet) minaret in the world made of bricks. It was started by Qutb al-Din Aibak in 1192. His successor added to it in 1220. The top section was completed about 1369. The internal spiral staircase has 379 steps. The tower is closed to the public.

Near the minaret is the Quwwat-ul Islam Mosque, the much older iron pillar, 'Smith's folly', an incomplete minaret and (ruins of) several other structures.

There are some signs that explain the complex and it structures. You can click here to read them.
