What is a 3 Sided Bowl?

This page is primary intended for persons who have no idea what a 3 cornered bowl is.

First, some of my 3 sided objects.
first effort
My first effort. After several mess ups on this object, I got this. It certainly isn't a bowl. If you take the top off, it is a pencil stand.

3 cornered saucer from half of a cube
3 cornered saucer from half of a cube. Made from maple.

3 cornered bowl with lid
3 cornered bowl with lid both made from the same cube. Unfortunately it has both natural and man made worm holes.

3 sided bowl
My best 3 cornered bowl, so far.

3 sided bowl, laminated plywood
This 3 sided bowl was use in the demo in the Turning section. It was also an experiment using a 3-3/4 inch cube that was constructed with several 1/4 inch underlayment plywood pieces glued together.

3 sided bowl with lid, laminated plywood
This 3 sided bowl with lid was turned from a 4-3/4 inch cube of laminated plywood.

3 sided bowl with base and lid, laminated plywood
These 3 pieces were turned from a 4-1/2 inch cube. It was inspired by an idea in the original version of Geometry section, Part 2, Example 3.

Here are some examples of 3 cornered bowls that I found on the internet. The workmanship is much better.
